As winter turns to spring, spring to summer, through autumn and back to winter, the beauty, variety, eccentricity and sheer magic of nature unfolds around us.
This workshop uses an extensive array of fallen buds, seed pods, sticks, leaves and cones to create temporary artworks, known as Nature Doodles. Through a range of prompts and activities, we doodle individually, before (depending on the group) creating a bigger, collaborative piece, seeing the magic that can happen when we all work together.

Facilitated or drop in sessions are flexible and responsive to the space, adapting to the needs and dynamics of your community.
Nature Doodles are an invitation to play – experience the sensory delights of nature in a non-committal way. Children find this approach intuitive; adults often find it meditative, re-discovering their own ability to play.

Beginning individually, we find ourselves collaborating to create something bigger than we could ever achieve alone.
It’s also an invitation to discover nature – to notice and question the many different kinds of cone or acorn, shapes and colours of leaves, texture of sticks, provoking comments such as ‘I shall look at nature through different eyes now.’

in the community …
Crossing social boundaries and coming together to celebrate a shared space in the heart of a community.
Since early 2022, I’ve developed an ever-evolving collection of natural objects which in themselves are small, enticing treasures. I’ve doodled with a wide range of groups, both adult and children, in mainstream education and those with additional needs.

at events and festivals …
Taking the transience of the art form to celebrate a moment in time, be it a launch, a wedding or … ?
Nature Doodles workshops are extremely versatile – it’s intrinsic to the art form to respond to the space, the group and the occasion, and to reflect the time of year.
Indoor, facilitated workshops usually last up to 90 minutes and work with up to 15 children, while drop-in sessions can span a longer period of time and accommodate greater numbers, depending on the space. Outdoor workshops depend much more on the group, the time of year and the setting.
