Nature Doodles

Since February 2023 my work has focused on the connections that emerge between people, place and nature through spending slow time in a place, doing something simple, playful and creative. I call this Nature Doodles – a process which unlocks memories and connections, and sheds perfectionism.  They’re often Nature Mandalas – or a kind of Land Art, but I call them Doodles to emphasise that they’re for everybody – we’ve all doodled down the side of a notebook!

I Doodle alone to lose myself in a moment of beauty, and as a gift to friends and strangers.

I invite other people – individuals – to Doodle in collaboration with me, in a place where they like to be.

I lead workshops inside and out, taking a group (often strangers) on a journey from individual work to collaboration.

Nature Doodles are full of transience and spontaneity, free from judgement.  I find that adapting myself to others’ creative confidence is key to collaboration, and the trust and intimacy that emerges between us is one of the most special aspects of the journey.

Writing has become an important part of the process, helping us to remember the experience in more ways than just a photo.  It’s a way to record the stories and memories that we shared.  I ‘write up’ every Doodle experience –always respecting privacy!  People tell me it’s a gift to receive the ‘write up’, so this is like my thank you for the trust they’ve given me.
